At the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula, you can find one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations, and I’m talking, of course, about Cabo San Lucas.
It is where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, where this vibrant resort town lies. It is also where the natural wonders of the desert and ocean geography meet, offering its visitors a one-of-a-kind adventure with a variety of activities to choose from.
Cabo San Lucas neighbourhoods to check out:
Cabo San Lucas has several neighbourhoods, each offering a unique experience and vibe.
- Centro – The downtown and Marina are the centre of the city, located by the picturesque waterfront. Known for its nightlife and dining options, as well as cruise ship port proximity.
- Pedregal – the ‘Hollywood Hills of Cabo’ offers an exclusive, gated community for the upscale vacation, including lovely views, private beaches and luxury estates.
- Médano Beach – Playa el Médano offers the best swimmable beach proximity and clubs, as well as access to water activities.
- San José del Cabo – for those wishing for a slower, more peaceful experience, located 20 miles (~33 km) northeast of Cabo San Lucas, this lovely town offers an authentic experience amongst stunning architecture and art galleries.
- Los Cabos Corridor – this tourist corridor stretching between the two towns blends the scenery with the local culture, dotted with golf courses, beaches and cultural highlights along its coastline.

Top attractions and things to do in Cabo San Lucas:
As one of the top destinations for tourists, it’s not hard to guess that Cabo San Lucas has plenty to offer, including marine adventures as well as desert excursions.
- El Arco – this iconic Arch of natural limestone is one of the landmarks you cannot miss while visiting the Baja Peninsula. It marks the spot where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. El Arco is the most recognisable landmark of Land’s End – a monumental rock formation.
- Whale watching tours or bottomless cruises – between the months of December and April, there is a chance to see migrating humpbacks and grey whales during whale watching trips. Or you can get drunk and imagine them during a bottomless cruise; that works for some people too. The Land’s End rocks provide a natural sea lion habitat you might be able to see, or perhaps go snorkelling.
- Lovers & Divorce Beaches – sitting back-to-back, the Lovers Beach is a swimmable area facing the Sea of Cortez, while the Divorce Beach faces the treacherous, non-swimmable waters of the Pacific. Visit these hidden coves at Land’s End via water taxis, as they are inaccessible on foot or by road.
Cabo Adventures not to miss!
Looking for more?
Cabo Adventures company has you covered!
Their 22-acre private reserve called the Tierra Sagrada Ranch (meaning ‘Sacred Land’) is located approx. 40 km from Cabo San Lucas. You can visit it for a standalone day adventure or as a cruise excursion during your travels. This eco-adventure park, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sonoran Desert, is an ideal coastal desert sanctuary offering both relaxing and high-energy activities. Depending on the package you go for, these are some of the many things you might be availing of at their Oceanfront Beach Club – equipped with an infinity pool and hot tubs amidst a lounging area overlooking the Pacific.
- Food buffet and an open bar – certain packages include access to an open bar service as well as a buffet serving freshly made local dishes.
- Kid’s Adventure Park – if you’re travelling with the little ones, check out their kids’ zone with a mini zip line, climbing net, garden area and a petting zoo on offer.
- Extras – Every now and again throughout the day, you can join in for complimentary demonstrations, such as salsa or margarita-making, or tequila/mezcal tasting.

Outside of the Beach Club amenities above, you can look to do some of their more energetic, outdoor activities.
- Camel Safari – enjoy a beachfront guided camel ride along the Pacific. One of the ranch’s most signature attractions, you get to meet and interact with Dromedary and Bactrian camels from their Humane Certified facility.
- Off-road ATV – if you prefer motorised vehicles, you can go for an ATV tour through the Baja outbacks and test your off-road abilities on cacti-lined trails.
- Electric biking – not a fan of ATVs? You can also rent out electric bikes for the ride instead!
They also offer whale watching and boat tours, diving and swimming with dolphins tours, as well as other activities. You’re best off checking out their website for all offers.

There are a few things to be mindful of, though, when looking at booking with Cabo Adventures.
- Hidden Fees – some third-party vendors selling the adventures might incur additional fees, or the opposite, they might not include everything, such as, for example, a parking fee.
- Swimming – The ranch sits entirely on the side of the Pacific, which means the currents are too strong and treacherous, and you are prohibited from swimming in it; you are only allowed to swim in the beach club’s pool.
- Tipping – Even with an all-inclusive beach club package, tipping is still highly expected.
- Temperature – You’d be surprised at the difference, but being located by the Pacific, the ocean’s breeze makes the beach club feel colder than downtown Cabo. Pack necessary clothing accordingly.
Iconic Cabo San Lucas drinks and dishes to try:
As always, try not to leave Cabo without trying some of the local and national dishes in the area.
Cabo San Lucas Traditional Food
- Baja Fish Tacos – it is right there in the name, featuring white fish coated in beer batter, topped with cabbage, pico de gallo and chipotle sauce.
- Smoked Marling – regional delicacy, with the fish shredded and slow-smoked over local wood.
- Machaca – traditional shredded beef served with scrambled eggs, onions and chiles.
Cabo San Lucas Local Drinks
