George Inlet Lodge is a rural but modernised building, located on the water within the remote wilderness of Ketchikan, Alaska. They offer a unique Alaska dining and crabbing experience, giving you an opportunity to get close to the natural wonders of this incredible state.

I have booked their Crab Feast and Wilderness Exploration not thinking too much of it. It was meant to be one of those chilled and relaxing excursions, and it quickly left me in absolute awe and became one of my favourite trips.
Starting off with the Wilderness Exploration, you hop into a fully shielded boat for an informative and relaxing ride along the water. If the weather permits, you are allowed to step outside to take photos. Admire the surrounding nature and sights, as you listen to the local history. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, help the crew with lifting the Dungeness crabs out of the water and hold one in your hand!

After the amazing cruise. a true feast awaited back at the Lodge. It started off with a light salad, followed by a virtually unlimited amount of Dungeness Crab, which was so delicious! Simply prepared and served with melted butter, it truly was a feast! And just when I thought I couldn’t possibly eat anymore, the fun and energetic staff brought out an amazing blueberry cheesecake to top off this fantastic experience.

This is just one of those activities you have to experience, it sounds simple but it ticked all my boxes and actually blew me away! A fantastic way to enjoyably spend an afternoon amidst Alaskan nature and food!
The entry to the lodge comprises of a large number of steep stairs leading from the road down to the waterfront, and I didn’t see any other means of getting down so people with reduced mobility might have to consider if this is accessible excursion.
