If you ever get to Tallinn, Estonia, you’re in for a treat when it comes to food! You will not have to wonder where to eat in Tallinn – even during my brief stay, I stumbled upon a bunch of awesome and delicious places to eat, plus some super cool and friendly bars with unique vibes. I’m gonna share the ones I had the most fun with around the Old Time centre, but I bet there are tons more out there that I didn’t get to check out. If you know any, drop a comment and let us know!
Best restaurants in Tallinn Old Town
start your day right – Maiasmokk
If you’re looking for a cosy spot, Maiasmokk is one of the oldest cafés in town and it’s got a super charming, historic vibe. They whip up some tasty breakfast dishes, but the real treat is their awesome pastries and handmade candies, which you can either enjoy there or grab to go!

Sweet Treat during a Coffee Break – Chocolaterie Pierre
This enchanting bohemian chocolaterie, tucked away in a charming craftsmen’s courtyard on Vene Street, beckons with its irresistible coffee and decadent sweet treats. The rich, velvety chocolate, paired with captivating décor and the warm smiles of the attentive staff, invites you to lose yourself in a delightful experience that is truly worth savouring.

Best of estonian food and fine dining – Trofé
Specialising not just in Estonian cuisine but embracing the rich flavours of the Nordic tradition, Trofé features diners with its exquisite game meats and fresh fish, creating an unforgettable culinary experience. Their extensive selection of delectable appetisers and desserts pairs well with the available drinks. The inviting, cosy interior envelops guests in a warm, enchanting atmosphere that promises to linger in the heart and memory long after the last bite.

Authentic MEDIEVAL feast not to miss – olde hansa
The house of rich merchants, Olde Hansa welcomes its guests to a medieval feast, whose meals and drinks are prepared using 15th-century recipes authentic to the Hansa period by which it is inspired. Medieval musicians add further to the experience, as does the interior – filled with candles and with no obvious sign of electricity or any modern items. Olde Hansa makes for a truly unique experience right in the heart of Tallinn’s Old Town.

Pubs and bars in Tallinn Old Town
If you’re in Tallinn’s Old Town and looking to grab a drink or two, there are tons of cool spots to check out! As a chemist, one place that really stood out to me was Labor—a bar that looks like a lab, serving up cocktails in funky lab glassware.

Gay bars in Tallinn – Hello & X
HELLo is an enchanting LGBTQ+ bar nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, where the staff radiate warmth and friendliness, complemented by the delightful aroma of popcorn wafting through the air! If that doesn’t ignite your curiosity, perhaps the electric atmosphere will!

X is a nightclub during its busiest hours, and it’s got an awesome dancefloor. However, the club can be a bit tricky to locate since the entrance is kinda tucked away among other places.

Whatever place you choose to go to in Tallinn, be warned that locals tend to go out much later in the night, or so I’ve been told. The traffic usually starts up around midnight, as the places are open into early morning hours.
