It is no surprise that Copenhagen can be a bit pricey. Whether you’re visiting the attractions, taking part in activities or yes, dining, the options out there vary greatly.
To help you plan ahead and make sure you not only survive on, but actually experience Copenhagen’s (incr)edible cuisine, here are my favourite places within city’s central region, I recommend you check out – with my first choice left to the very end so make sure you won’t miss it!
Ø12
Start your trip right with Ø12. It offers amazing breakfast options throughout the day, complementing well with variety of coffee choices for everyone. With two locations, in Copenhagen Ø and V, make sure not to miss it!

MAX Burgers
If you’re looking for a fast food locale, look no further, Max Burgers has you covered! It was one of the firsts fast foods I visited when in Copenhagen and been going to it ever since. They offer amazing vegetarian options, as well as many imaginative options such as spicy avocado burgers and many more – their options are far greater than any I’ve come across at different chains.
Takuya Sushi
Located right beside the Central Station, Takuya Sushi is a small venue serving big flavours. With limited seating space and the bathroom entry located beside the kitchen, the restaurant makes up for it with their amazing menu – the Ramen was delicious and seasoned well.

Green Island
Another personal favour I keep coming back to is Green Island – an idyllic spot to meet up with friends, family or loved ones to enjoy a drink or two, and some finger food. Surrounded by water, you can feel the rocking waves underneath you. They organise events and live music and don’t take reservations for small groups, so make sure you get there early to secure a spot as it fills up quick.
They’ve also teamed up with Green Raft to give an opportunity to enjoy food and drinks further down the river at a rented raft!

Torvehallerne
Not sure what you’re in the mood for? Try a bit of everything!
It can be hard to know where to start when it comes to Copenhagen’s cuisine and the food it has to offer so a food market is always a good idea. Pick anything from local delicacies, vegetables or seafood amongst its many shops and stalls. Located right beside Nørreport station, it is an ideal location to try Danish classic, Smørrebrød – open faced sandwich (variety of toppings to your liking served on rye bread).

Jaxes Café
Leaving my absolute favourite till last – I believe Jaxes Café is about 45% of why I love Copenhagen so much to begin with. Small restaurant not too far from Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek that stole my heart from the moment I first encountered it by accident.
This café offers incredibly cosy vibes inside as well as outside seating. The food is not only Instagram-worthy in how it looks, but it also tastes divine. It has become the first place I visit when I land and the last place I go to before I leave Copenhagen. I cannot oversell this place so will let the photos do the talking.
I’m sure there are other incredible places in the city still out there for me to find so when I do, I’ll update the list, but at the moment, these are my favourites and if you do end up checking them out, I hope you will enjoy as much as I have!
