Day to Day with ADHD – Dirty Laundry of Roxie and Rich

This is an honest, unfiltered story of Roxie and Rich, as their navigate their relationship and lives following one partner’s ADHD diagnosis. They’ve found fame online discussing the account of their day to day and how they learned to navigate their household amongst the new dynamic. Now they bring their personal stories in a book format to help fight the stigma around ADHD and to help overcome the struggles which can come up for both the ADHD diagnosed individual as well as their close ones.

This book does not include any medical or professional insight. It is a collection of thoughts and advice of two people, based on their personal experience. I knew going in that that is not the case and the book does not try to advertise otherwise. The approach the couple took makes it for an easy read, not bogged down with scientific justification, however I do understand this can be the reason some will not find this book helpful.

I enjoyed hearing about their perspectives, both from Roxie and Rich, and their practical examples of everyday struggles and ideas of how to overcome them, or what to watch out for. It provides some insight with an added humorous element to it, which many can find beneficial.

Each story or anecdote is talked about twice – with one chapter from the perspective of the ADHD diagnosed Roxanne, and another from her husband, Richard. Unfortunately, the chapters would end up being too similar. They talked about the exact same issue, solutions, even the use of words and phrases didn’t differ much between them. It came across as repetitive and could have been edited more concisely.

I do think it makes for a good attempt to try and show its readers how to approach the subject, how to begin to be more understanding of the diagnosis, what it entails, and how to stop judging yourself and others. In the worst case scenario, if this read doesn’t turn out to be to your liking, you’d only waste about 2 hrs of your life – could have been worse.
