Book Review: “Ignite Me” by Tahereh Mafi (‘Shatter Me’ #3)

Hey lovelies!

I am going to keep this review short and sweet, because I think I already said everything there is to be said about Shatter Me series. ‘Ignite Me’ is the last book in it and it delivered, just like the two novels before it.

The story picks up right where ‘Unravel Me’ left it. Omega Point is destroyed and Juliette has been saved from the sure death by one person she thought she couldn’t trust, Warner. Juliette doesn’t know whether or not her fellow friends and the rebels have survived, but she is keen to master her powers and take down The Reestablishment once and for all.

The drama between Warner, Adam and Juliette is ongoing, but it finally settles. The romance between the two main characters flourishes even more and I cannot stop myself for having a soft spot for Aaron (Warner).

Kenji… Kenji is just the best. That’s it, that’s all I’m going to say because if I start talking about him, I will be here for days. It was announced some time ago that he is getting his own spin-off novella and I am so, so happy! He definitely deserves it, there is much more to him that he lets on.

Unfortunately the majority of the pages are filled with the love-story while the remaining describe the war preparation and the war itself. I feel like maybe the set up and the romance took too long and all the action regarding the state of the world wasn’t described in enough details.

The ending feels inconclusive, I would be disappointed by it if it was to end that way, but because I am late to the party (4 years late actually), I know for a fact that the series continues.

Now that I’m done with the main ‘Shatter Me’ series, here is a little summary of what I think about it overall:

Even though I am giving 5 stars to each book in the series, neither is perfect and they seem to suffer from similar mistakes. The author hasn’t fixed what was broken to an extent that it made a difference.

However, one of the reasons I’m rating all of them so high is that once picked up, it is hard to put them down. The phenomenal writing of characters is captivating and the dialogues… damn, those dialogues. Each and every book from this series awoke multiple emotions inside of me, something that doesn’t happen too often. Reading them made me want to stay up late to finish the book, I couldn’t get enough of the words written by Mafi. I still go back to the quotes within this series that caught my attention while reading. I treasure this joyful feeling.

That wraps up the main Trilogy and I am diving right into ‘Restore Me’, a continuation of this series, yet a start to a brand new one.

Thanks for reading! Make sure to let me know what you think of ‘Ignite Me’ and the series overall, down in the comment section below!
